Fuel Data Portal aggregates publicly available fuel-industry news and data, and publishes its own original briefs, analysis, and data indexes. By using this site you agree to these terms.

Our content, data compilation, and indexes are ours

This site is original work. Our briefs and written analysis, the selection, arrangement, and presentation of the data we compile, our charts, and the FuelDataPortal indexes and their methodologies are protected by copyright and other laws and are owned by Fuel Data Portal. Individual public facts and figures belong to no one; the compilation, the original writing, and the indexes we derive from public data are ours.

What you may and may not do with it

You may read the site and quote a limited, reasonable amount for personal reference, commentary, or news reporting, with clear attribution to FuelDataPortal and a link back. Everything beyond that needs our written permission. In particular, you may not:

• systematically scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, or bulk-download the site, any page, or any dataset or index on it, by any automated means;
• copy, republish, redistribute, sell, license, or otherwise make available our data, briefs, charts, or indexes as a feed, dataset, report, product, or service;
• build a derivative dataset or database from our content, or use our content to build, seed, benchmark, or train a competing data product, index, or model;
• frame, mirror, or present our content as your own, or strip or obscure attribution.

These limits apply whether or not you charge for the result and whether the use is manual or automated.

The FuelDataPortal indexes

The FuelDataPortal indexes, including the FDP Diesel Street Margin, the FDP Crack Spread, the FDP Biodiesel RIN Premium, and the FDP regional diesel spreads, are computed by us from public data using our own published methodology. We disclose the methodology so the number can be understood and cited, not so it can be re-served as a feed. If you reference an index, attribute it to FuelDataPortal. Reproducing an index series, its history, or its methodology as part of another product or dataset requires a license.

Licensing and permissions

Want to use our data, briefs, or indexes beyond personal reference or brief attributed quotation, in a product, a redistributed feed, a commercial report, or at scale? That is available under license. Email [email protected] and tell us what you have in mind.

The data is gathered, not guaranteed

The headlines, prices, tax figures, summaries, and other data on this site are collected automatically from public and third-party sources. We do not guarantee that any of it is accurate, complete, current, or reliable. Prices are delayed and may be wrong. Figures change. Before you act on anything here, confirm it against the original source.

Headlines link to others' content

Headlines link out to third-party websites. We do not control, endorse, or take responsibility for that content. Following a link takes you to a site governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

Analysis is informational

Our briefs and summaries are written from aggregated public reporting and may contain errors or omissions. They are informational only and are not a substitute for the primary sources.

No warranty, limited liability

The site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fuel Data Portal is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its data.

Email & your privacy

If you subscribe, here is exactly how that works and what we do with your address.

• Why we have it: you gave it to us to receive the newsletter. That consent is the only basis on which we email you, and it is the only thing we use your address for.
• Double opt-in: after you sign up we email you a confirmation link. You are not added to any list until you click it. If you never click it, you never hear from us again.
• What we send: the weekly digest, and the daily update only if you turn it on. You choose your sectors and your frequency, and you can change them anytime.
• Unsubscribe anytime: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link and a "manage preferences" link. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and permanently. You can also email [email protected].
• We never sell or share it. We do not sell, rent, or share your address with anyone, and we do not use it for advertising. Sending is handled by Amazon SES purely as our delivery provider.
• What we store: your email, your sector and frequency choices, the date and IP you signed up from (for abuse prevention), and whether you have confirmed or unsubscribed.
• How long we keep it: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Unsubscribed addresses are kept only as a suppression record so we don't email you again.
• Your rights (GDPR / similar laws): you may request a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time (unsubscribing does this). Email [email protected] and we will act on it. The data controller is FuelDataPortal.com.
• US (CAN-SPAM): our emails identify who they are from, carry a valid physical postal address, are only sent to people who asked for them, and honor unsubscribe requests promptly.
